Configuring and Using PureSight

By default, PureSight is configured for optimal performance at installation. These settings, however, are fully configurable.

From the WinGate GateKeeper

  1. Click Options on the menu bar
  2. From the drop down menu, click Plug-ins
  3. Click PureSight

  4. Select the Category: Sex tab to view or modify PureSight's Sex content filter settings
  5. Select the Category: Gambling tab to view or configure PureSight's Gambling content filer settings
  6. Click the Allow list tab to view or modify the list of URL's PureSight should ignore if they would otherwise be banned
  7. Click the Ban list tab to view or modify the list of URL's PureSight should block if they would otherwise be allowed
  8. Click the User Configuration tab to view or edit the list of WinGate users PureSight is set to filter content for
  9. Click the About tab to view version and license information about the PureSight plugin
By default, PureSight is configured to block pages if there is a 60% or more certainty that the page being requested contains objectionable content.

The level of filtering is adjusted by slide bars under the specific category tab within the PureSight interface. The slide bars have a range of certainty from 0% to 100% with 0% being the highest filter setting and 100% being the lowest. If PureSight is 0% sure a site contains objectionable material, it will block the site.

If PureSight is set to block only if it is 100% certain the site contains objectionable material, almost all web sites are going to be allowed. Even a site like Playboy.com comes through with only a 92% certainty of objectionable material. Keep these factors in mind when adjusting PureSight's content filter settings.
