Many people use more than one mobile device. With MDaemon ActiveSync, any user can have multiple devices of any make or model on a single account — making it easy to sync email, calendar, contacts, and tasks across all your devices.
MDaemon ActiveSync uses push email technology that provides an always-on capability — new email is actively transferred to the device as soon as it is received by the MDaemon mail server, with no manual refresh required.
Enhance mobile device security through ActiveSync policies. Manage pre-defined policies or create your own from the Mobile Device Management screen.
- Require alpha-numeric password
- Allow simple password
- Require device encryption
- Password expiration settings
- Remember old passwords
- Minimum password length
- Max failed password attempts
- Inactivity timeout (device lock)
- Allow attachments to be downloaded (with max size)
- Email synchronization period
- Calendar synchronization period
- Require manual sync on roam
- Allow browser
- Allow camera
Note: Not all ActiveSync devices recognize or apply policy consistently. Some may ignore policy altogether or require a device reboot before changes take effect. No policy is applied until the next time the device connects to the ActiveSync server.
If a device is lost or stolen, the MDaemon administrator can issue a Wipe command to erase all data on the device or restore it to its factory default state.
Users can set up their account on a mobile device simply by entering their email address and password — no server name required. Autodiscovery uses the SMTP address as the primary input to discover core account configuration information automatically, significantly simplifying mobile device setup.
ActiveSync bundles all sync requests together instead of syncing each folder separately, reducing battery drain and data usage while delivering far lower message delivery latency.
The Global Address List (GAL) contains contact info and resources associated with all MDaemon users, enabling mobile users to look up colleague contact information directly from their device.
All data transmitted between the MDaemon mail server and your mobile devices is protected using SSL encryption — a cryptographic system using public and private keys to ensure private data is transmitted securely.
ActiveSync supports device ID, device type, and device OS whitelists and blacklists. You can allow or block specific devices based on their ID, type, and OS values to maintain control over which devices can access your mail server.
Specify the number of days of inactivity after which MDaemon will forget a particular device (defaulting to 31 days). When forgotten, configuration and access history is discarded — the device must re-provision and re-sync on its next connection. This keeps your installation clean and free of old, retired, or unused devices.
The Restrictions screen lets you specify User Agent and Device Type values and restrict matching devices to specific ActiveSync protocol versions (2.5, 12.1, 14.0, and 14.1). The ActiveSync server will communicate with matching devices using only the selected protocol version.
